Reflection
God is the source
of all life. To him we owe our very being and his
plan for each of us is to be raised to everlasting
life with him in heaven. Our faith calls us to express
our gratitude for this gift by the respect which we
show for our own lives and the lives of all God’s
creatures. As well as living our lives as fully as
possible, we should also oppose anything which threatens
or degrades human life.

PRAYER FOCUS - Give us freedom of
spirit and health in mind and body
Question: In what ways do you
want this prayer answered?
Do you ask the right questions?
Today’s Gosepl is about life after death. Christians
know this is true because Jesus told us so when He
was on earth.
We don’t know the details yet of what life after
death will be like, but Jesus will reassure us if
we ask Him.
Can you see the link between the First Reading, Psalm
and Gospel. Remember the link in each case and pray
the responses as you do.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, I know that when my body dies my life
will change, not end, because this is what You have
told us and Your word is true. Help me to love Your
word and stay close to You always.
The Gift of Faith
Jesus said to his disciples: "When you have done
all that you have been told to do, say, 'we are merely
servants; we have done no more than our duty'".
One of the most disturbing features of parish life
today is the number of people who reduce the practice
of their faith to the barest minimum and mostly without
any joy. Many people are the same way about marriage
and family life where the whole thing becomes a burden
for them. We have a wonderful God who loves us with
a passionate love. We have unbelievable gifts from
God especially in the Sacraments of the Eucharist
and Reconciliation through which we share in the intimate
life of God. We are temples of God's Holy Spirit,
with all the power of God's love to transform our
world. It seems such a shame to ruin it all with the
mentality 'do I have to do this?' instead of freely
taking our full part in building God's Kingdom.
